Cutler Associates Completes Five Design-Build Projects Totaling Nearly $50 Million

The $14 million expansion of TJX Companies’ HomeGoods Distribution Center in Bloomfield, Connecticut includes a 200,000-square-foot, 46-foot-clear, high-bay space and a 160,000-square-foot, 32-foot-clear, low-bay area. The design-build project was designed by Cutler Design and delivered on a 10-month design and construction schedule. This is the third project that Cutler has completed with TJX. Past projects include a 1.3 million-square-foot warehouse and distribution center in Pittston, Pennsylvania.

A 209-bed residence hall recently opened at the University of Hartford in Hartford, Connecticut. The traditional-style, freshmen housing complex includes double rooms on the four upper floors and community space and a new plaza on the first floor. This community-centered area was designed to create a new vibrant center for student life. Cutler Associates partnered with Cutler Design and DiMella Shaffer Associates to offer an integrated design-build solution that maximized use of the $13 million project budget and delivered the project within a 16-month design and construction period.

Also designed by Cutler Design, a 51,000-square-foot trucking terminal and corporate headquarters was built for Crystal Motor Express, a regional trucking, consolidating, and distribution firm. The $6.2 million tilt-wall facility includes a cross-docking hub, maintenance garage, and two-story adjoining office complex. The new Lynnfield, Massachusetts operation provides an expanded infrastructure with state-of-the-art technology to support the company’s growing operations.

Cutler partnered with JSA Architects to design and construct an Inn for Endicott College’s south-campus Conference Center in Beverly, Massachusetts. The team completely renovated the four-story former Ebinger Hall and added a three-story, pre-engineered building addition to create the new facility, which will house conference guests and alumni.

From its mid-Atlantic office in Allentown, Pennsylvania, Cutler designed and built a 240,000 mixed-use industrial facility for Equilibrium Equities, an investment and development company focused on developing and acquiring high-quality industrial facilities throughout the northeastern United States. The $7.7 million project is situated in Humboldt East Industrial Park in Hazleton, Pennsylvania.
