Fred Mulligan Honored with National DBIA Award

Frederic H. Mulligan, P.E., DBIA president of Cutler Associates, a Worcester-based, east-coast design and construction firm, was recently awarded a Meritorious Service Award by the Design-Build Institute of America (DBIA). The award recognizes his commitment to DBIA and promotion of the design-build delivery method.

Nominated by fellow DBIA board member, Guillermo F. Salazar who serves as Civil and Environmental Engineering Department Chair at Worcester Polytechnic Institute, Mr. Mulligan was recognized for his professional accomplishments, dedication to public service, and lifelong advocacy and practice of design-build.

“Throughout his 35-year career, Mr. Mulligan’s advocacy for design-build project delivery has influenced hundreds of owner’s, employees, students and industry peers,” said Mr. Salazar in his nomination letter. “His work and career is devoted not only to building a successful design-build firm, but also to a continuous investigation, examination, and implementation of the best possible design and construction solutions.”

Mr. Mulligan is a graduate of Worcester Polytechnic Institute, where he earned both Bachelors and Masters Degrees. He is a registered professional engineer and a designated design-build professional. Mr. Mulligan also serves on the Board of Directors for the Massachusetts Port Authority, the Massachusetts Alliance for Economic Development, The Greater Worcester Community Foundation and the Worcester Municipal Research Bureau.
