Local Construction Firm Expanding the Face of HCC’S Ybor Campus

Cutler Associates, a nationally ranked construction management and design build firm is pleased to announce the groundbreaking for HCC’s New Student Services Center on the college’s Ybor City Campus.  Rick Lentz, LEED AP, Regional Vice President of the Tampa office made the announcements on January 3, 2009.

Considered to be the new “jewel” of the Ybor Campus, the new 67,000 s.f. Student Services Building will become an icon to both the students, staff and visitors to the Historic District. Currently, student services are spread throughout the campus and this new facility will be consolidate those functions into one space.

Located at the corner of Palm Avenue and 14th Street, the new $14.3 million dollar Student Center will house campus student services activities such as Financial Aid, Admissions, Records and Registration, the Bursar Office as well as Student Guidance and Counseling offices and related spaces.  This facility is technologically intensive and will provide kiosks throughout the facility so that students can access information easily. Office and support spaces are flexible in nature to allow for future technological changes as well as use of space.

Cutler Associates, Inc. will incorporate FGBC and LEED standards into its design.  Some of these criteria include: Site Location and orientation, Construction recycling, Construction Indoor Air quality as well as other items.  The target date for occupancy is December 2009.  Hunton Brady Architects of Orlando serves as the architecture firm for this important campus project.
