Cutler Associates embraces and employs sustainable practices in design and construction as a proactive and responsible response to the growing concern for the natural environment. Our LEED*- accredited professionals guide our project teams in applying environmentally-friendly techniques to match your institution’s philosophy and your project’s goals and budget. The advantages of integrated design and construction are readily
apparent when it comes to sustainability. In contrast to the traditional
process, which has the architect drawing the building, the engineer
designing the mechanical and electrical systems and the contractor
pricing individual components, Cutler’s design-build team
functions as a unit to analyze the building for energy efficiency,
quality of indoor environment, cost effectiveness and impact on
the exterior environment.
The team uses the design phase to explore a variety of possibilities
for their ability to contribute to the sustainability goals
for the project. With the involvement of the estimating
and construction disciplines in these charrettes, each potential
solution is evaluated for initial and lifecycle cost, schedule
demands and constructability. The result is more complete
information early in the process for more informed decision
making by the owner and the design-build team.
